BILLBOARD UPDATE: JUNE 20, 2009

- Keri Hilson tops the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts this week with her second single, "Knock You Down," featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo.

- Drake's mixtape smash, "Best I Ever Had," comes in at number two on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts with the greatest gain in Airplay. I suspect this song will reach number two next week.

- Maxwell's new single "Pretty Wings," is becoming a smash charting at number eight in a matter of just a few weeks.

- On the album side of things, Ciara's "Fantasy Ride," continues to decline while Chrisette Michelle makes her way up to number two. And Electrick Red's debut fell from a disappointing number 20 to 38 on the R&B charts (not a surprise, but very unfair at the same time - if Dream gave Ciara their album, Ciara would have gone gold already, maybe even platinum).

BILLBOARD UPDATE - JUNE 6, 2009

For this week,

- Eminem's newest album "Relapse" tops the Billboard 200 album charts, pushing close to 610,000 units. Not gonna hate on the dude but you will not see me reviewing his album cause his music is garbage to me. With this terrible economy, it is impressive that he did push over a half a million units.

- The Black Eyed Peas' first sing "Boom Boom Pow" from their new album" The E.N.D." remains atop the Billboard Hot 100 for its eighth week now with digital sales exceeding 2 million.

- Eminem tops the R&B/Hip-Hop album charts with his latest release, with more debuts from Busta Rhymes, Method Man & Redman, DJ Drama, Ruben Studdard, and Lionel Richie reaching the Top 10.

- Jeremih, the R&B newcomer with the song "Birthday Sex" tops the R&B/Hip-Hop singles charts for the second week in a row. (Why are people even feeling this record? I'd rather hear a Ray J song instead. Why didn't "Sexy Ladies" from the "Ray J of Love Soundtrack" blow up?)

Other news,

- Ciara's latest album Fantasy Ride can be considered a flop because its only been out for three weeks and it has fallen to 34 on the Billbord Hot 200, while older albums from Beyonce and Keri Hilson witnessed better sales. On the R&B/Hip-Hop charts she has fallen to 11 with Keri Hilson and Chrisette Michelle pushing more units, even though Ciara has been given more promition (perhaps her SNL performance will boost sales for next week).
