NEW MUSIC: AMERIE

Yesterday, I mentioned that Amerie's new album is slated for a fall release, and the lead sing is entitled "Why R U." Looks like the song has surfaced on youtube in high quality so I decided to give it a listen. I'm impressed, but I don't know if people will like it. The song is fly and reminds me of Mary J. Blige. I like how Amerie's vocals are relaxed and mellow, yet still heartfelt, while the beat is bananas. This definitely a Hip-Hop soul record with an updated sound. But like i said, I don't know If she is going to get a great commercial reception. Lloyd's "Girls All Around the World" had the same vibe and he experienced moderate success. Amerie has never been a huge star and she only had a few hits so I can only wonder about the amount of success she is going to recieve from putting out this record.
